Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne says the final few races of the 2015 season will be the most exciting for Ferrari, as he believes their recovery will begin to show results around that period of time.
The Italian was speaking during the Detroit Auto Show and reiterated earlier comments that the Scuderia would struggle after a disappointing 2014, but wholly expects things to get better with time.
“Unfortunately we have dropped back,” he said. “We start behind but we will keep our heads down and try to win.
“My hope is that we will see improved performance on the track at the end of the season. I think the most interesting part of 2015 will be the last races.”
Marchionne hailed the FIA’s decision to allow in-season engine development following Ferrari’s recent campaigning for the change.
“I’m encouraged,” he added. “We have already achieved a good result by being able to make changes to the engines: I consider that an accomplishment.”
Meanwhile, he has explained that he will take a step back and allow newly-appointed team principal Maurizio Arrivabene to lead the team trhoughout the season.
“I would like to say to the fans that I will go to some grands prix, but we have appointed a team leader and he will deal with the management directly.”
