Jules Bianchi says he’s ready to make the step from Marussia to Ferrari next season should Fernando Alonso leave the Italian marque.
The Frenchman has spent two years at Marussia and is a member of Ferrari’s Junior Academy which has seen him test for them on several occasions.
Speculation about Alonso’s future continues to strengthen and when asked whether he was ready to fill a potential vacancy, he responded: “Of course I feel ready.
“I have been working on that since I [joined the] academy at the end of 2009. Now I nearly two seasons [experience] in Formula 1. I think I have good experience and I feel ready for that, for sure.
“Obviously at the moment both drivers have a contract so it’s not the question – but if there is the opportunity it will be good for me and I feel good. It looks like the logical step for me if something happens like this.”
