Toro Rosso and Renault have been cleared over any wrongdoing during an indoor pre-season test at Austria’s AVL facility.
The FIA was forced to act after an anonymous source informed the governing body that it believed either Red Bull or Toro Rosso had been involved in a full-scale six day wind-tunnel test with Renault.
Had that been true, the test would have fallen foul of the regulations. Whilst full-scale rolling road tests are legal, using wind-tunnel capabilities at the same time isn’t.
As we reported earlier this month, Red Bull confirmed to The F1 Times that they weren’t involved in the test.
The FIA therefore investigated Toro Rosso and Renault, but after speaking to both parties, it was found that they had adhered to the regulations and the matter is now considered closed.
