Valtteri Bottas was quickest come the end of the hour-long final practice session for the 2014 Austrian Grand Prix at Red Bull Ring.

The Williams driver’s 1:09.848 was enough to put him a tenth ahead of Lewis Hamilton thanks to a final flying lap as the checkered flag fell.

Hamilton looked to be concentrating on longer runs before a quick sprint in the final few minutes which popped him up into second ahead of the second Williams of Felipe Massa.

Daniel Kvyat was the surprise of the session, placing his Toro Rosso in fourth to push Nico Rosberg down to fifth by little more than a few hundredths.

Fernando Alonso was the best placed Ferrari-powered car, whilst Daniel Ricciardo was seventh for Red Bull.

The session saw little in the way of major drama, with Force India’s Sergio Perez taking flight at the final corner as he bounced along the bumpy run-off. Caterham’s Kamui Kobayashi meanwhile span at the same turn but avoided the barrier.

Jenson Button could only manage a handful of laps after reporting a brake issue which turned out to be much worse than was feared.
