Lewis Hamilton was the fastest man during second practice in Austria as he bolted on the supersoft tyres to dip below the one minute ten barrier.

He and team-mate Nico Rosberg, second quickest, were the only men into the 1:09s, with Hamilton almost half a second quicker than the German, whilst third-placed Fernando Alonso was over nine tenths slower.

The Williams duo of Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa were fourth and fifth quickest respectively as Mercedes-power reigned supreme once again.

Sebastian Vettel improved upon his FP1 time to go sixth, with McLaren’s Jenson Button splitting the two Red Bulls.

Turns one, eight and nine in particular continued to catch drivers out as they pushed the limits and often ran wide, with the final corner proving rather bumpy.
