Nico Rosberg claimed his second consecutive pole position after pipping team-mate Lewis Hamilton to the top spot in Canada.

The German took provisional pole and then bettered it on his second flying lap to clinch the top spot by less than a tenth to Hamilton.

The Mercedes duo start ahead of Sebastian Vettel who stormed to third despite team principal Christian Horner believing the second row was out of reach.

Valtteri Bottas lines up alongside Vettel, with team-mate Felipe Massa behind in fifth.
