Friday’s running looks set to drop from two 90-minute sessions to just one next season in a bid to reduce costs.
The proposal, put forward by the teams, is to push Thursday’s media duties to Friday morning, followed by a late single 90-minute session which would start at around 17:00 local time.
It’s believed it would allow team personnel to arrive at the circuit a day later, reducing travel and hotel expenses.
A reduction in pre-season testing to just two four-day tests, rather than three, was also discussed, as was two in-season tests rather than three, one of which would be dedicated to young drivers.
The proposals will be put forward to the Formula 1 Commission and the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) for approval.
The idea has been criticised by fans as it reduces the amount of running on a Friday, but will likely not result in a reduced ticket price.
