Lewis Hamilton is hoping for a closer race on Sunday than some of the previous races this season which have seen him dominate the entire field, including his team-mate.
Whilst the Mercedes driver was challenged in both Bahrain and Spain by Nico Rosberg – something he says is a good thing – he’s hoping rivals Red Bull and Ferrari can also join the mix and present him with more of a challenge.
“I’m racing my team-mate, so I do have competition and I’m grateful for that,” he said on Wednesday.
“I’m hoping we have a closer race this weekend. It would be cool if there were Ferraris and Red Bulls in the mix.”
Sebastian Vettel meanwhile reckons he will need to qualify well on Saturday if he’s to stand a chance of fighting the Mercedes duo.
“Mercedes have a very, very strong package, Nico and Lewis are very good around here so they will be the ones to beat.
“Maybe we can be a bit closer. The target is to have a very good qualifying because that’s half the job done on Saturday.”
It’s believed the lack of straights – where Mercedes biggest advantage lies – could see the pack closer on Sunday.
