Toro Rosso and Jean-Eric Vergne have been handed a double punishment for their unsafe release during the second practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix.
The Frenchman faces a ten-place grid drop for the race, whilst his team have been handed a £25,000 (€30,000, $41,000) fine.
It comes after Vergne’s right-rear wheel came free from the car as he rounded turn two, finally coming to a rest at turn three.
Laurent Mekies, head of vehicle performance, says the team now understand what went wrong and they hope to rectify it for the fyture.
“Unfortunately we had an issue with Jev’s pit stop at the end of his long run, when we lost a wheel as soon as he left the pit lane, but luckily no one was injured.
“We have to understand exactly what went wrong and make sure we can correct that for tomorrow.”
