Pastor Maldonado has hailed his decision to switch from Williams to Lotus for the 2014 season “the best decision ever” despite their opposing pre-season testing performances.
Whilst Williams look to be one of the favourites for victory in Melbourne next week after a successful pre-season, Lotus look to be struggling.
The Enstone team missed the first test and suffered terrible reliability in Bahrain, despite this, the Venezuelan driver is confident he’s made the right decision.
“In my opinion it’s the best decision ever,” he said.
“I saw the car first in the windtunnel and it was fantastic. It’s completely a different car, the most interesting car in the paddock, the most beautiful car, aggressive. I think they’ve done a really good job in terms of design.
“Using the rules and looking at the small particulars of the car, the design looks impressive and we hope to have a good car during the season.”
Maldonado isn’t judging his decision on results yet and says they must wait until they’ve found out how competitive they really are.
“I don’t know if [my decision] is good or worse for the results, we need to race first,” he added. “The season is long, we will see.”
