Lotus managed a maximum of 22-laps during a two-day promotional filming run on Friday and Saturday in Jerez last week.
The news will be welcomed by Renault after their customers struggled to complete running during the first pre-season test in Jerez due to a battery charging issue.
However it wasn’t all smooth running as the E22 completed just a single lap on Friday, eventually taking to the track in the afternoon for an installation lap.
The following day was more successful with Pastor Maldonado completing the maximum allowed distance of 100km – bringing their total laps to 22, one more than Red Bull could manage over the four-day test.
Lotus confirmed there were no major problems during the private test.
“Both the chassis and the new Renault power unit ran without any major problems,” a spokesperson told Autosport.
“Pastor settled in very quickly and is already fitting into the team nicely,” they added.
“The car went together well and the design and build quality is another step up on the successful E21 of 2013.
“We are looking forward to a full testing programme in Bahrain next week where we will start to see the potential of the new package.”
