Mercedes have cut short their participation in Pirelli’s Bahrain tyre test after Nico Rosberg suffered a tyre failure at 320km/h on Thursday morning.
The German quickly tweeted the need for some new underpants following the unexpected high-speed failure.
“Just spun at full speed 320km/h on Bahrain straight because my tyre blew up without warning,” he wrote. “Thanks to that need to get some toilet paper now…”
The German quickly deleted the tweet shortly after, likely at the request of his team as all information from the test is confidential.
It’s believed his W04 required some repairs which won’t be completed in time for Rosberg to return to the track.
Ferrari, Toro Rosso and Red Bull are also present at the test.
