Nico Rosberg doesn’t support his bosses view that Red Bull will take their massive advantage from 2013 into next season when the regulations changes come into force.
Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn recently stated that he believed Red Bull could dominate again next year regardless of the changes, because they’ve learnt so much already.
Rosberg though isn’t so sure and reckons the changes will see everyone starting from zero again which should provide a more level playing field.
“I don’t think it [their advantage] is two seconds at the moment, I think it’s less than that,” he said. “OK, maybe at times [in Abu Dhabi] but anyway, I’m not worried [for 2014], no, because it’s a great opportunity because it puts everybody back to zero, so on the contrary, it’s actually better this way. Everybody starts from zero.
“We have such a strong team now, it’s been built up over the last four years, they already did a fantastic job last winter from 1.5s a lap slower. At the beginning of this season we were sometimes the quickest car without a regulation change, so they did an amazing job last winter and I’m confident that they can do it again, for sure,” he added.
“And again this year, we had some weaknesses which we’ve learned from and are trying to continue improving and then I’m very sure we can have a good season.”
