Sauber will continue to use Ferrari power in 2014 after announcing an extension to its current powertrain deal with the Italian company.
The Swiss team will use Ferrari’s engine, including ERS, and their gearbox next season when the sport switches to turbo-charged V6 units.
“We are pleased to extend our technical partnership with Ferrari taking Sauber into the new era of engines that starts in 2014,” said Sauber team principal, Monisha Kaltenborn. “Ferrari has been a long standing partner of the team, first from 1997 to 2005 and then again from 2010 onwards.
“We are proud to extend our relationship with such a prestigious and renowned brand and look forward to entering the 2014 season with a strong and reliable partner like Ferrari.”
Ferrari will therefore supply Sauber and Marussia next year, whilst current customer Toro Rosso is aligning itself with sister-team Red Bull by switching to Renault.
