Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn has warned rival outfits that his team is only going to get stronger in the second half of the season as they continue to push through developments.
The Brackley-based team has taken the most pole positions so far this season, but has struggled to convert them to race wins. However at the last race in Hungary, Lewis Hamilton dominated to take the win from the front of the grid.
Brawn believes their latest developments will provide them with added momentum heading into the final nine races of the season.
“I know the things which are coming through on the technical front and our hit rate has been pretty good on new technical innovations this year. Things we’ve brought to the track have generally worked,” he said in a team Q&A.
“We’ve got some things coming up in the next few races which could give us that extra impetus and extra momentum to take us through the second half of the year.”
He also praised Hamilton and admitted they are only just beginning to see exactly what the Briton, who has scored the most points out of anyone in the last three races, can do.
“It has taken a little while but I see some great signs and particularly the last few races have been very, very good,” he added.
“It is picking up momentum and starting to move in the right direction. We don’t know where the limit is; we are on a journey with Lewis and we don’t know where the limits are.”
