Kimi Raikkonen to Ferrari in 2014? That’s the latest unlikely rumour circling the silly season following German media reports that the Finn’s former employer has offered him a deal for next season.
Raikkonen won his one and only title with Ferrari in 2007, but fell out with the Italian’s when he was forced out in favour of Fernando Alonso.
However he has been linked with replacing either Felipe Massa or possibly even Alonso who, like Raikkonen, has been linked to Red Bull’s vacant seat.
A Ferrari spokesperson has denied such claims, insisting they “have no interest in the driver market right now” and it’s not unusual for wild speculation at this time of the year.
“For all those who may have a short memory: just a year ago everyone came with a list of drivers who could replace Felipe,” they told DPA.
Whether or not Ferrari have approached the Lotus driver isn’t clear, but many believe the Scuderia will have an opening at the end of the year if Massa – who was only confirmed for 2013 at the end of the season – doesn’t begin picking up more points.
