Pirelli confirms compounds for Spa onwards

Pirelli has confirmed which compounds it will take to the next three races following on from Hungary, which are Belgium, Italy and Singapore.

Spa-Francorchamps sees the medium and hard compounds in action because of the length and speed of the circuit and the vertical load that puts on the tyres.

Monza will see the same tyres in use because the tyres are subjected to very high longitudinal forces and blistering can be an issue due to the stress put on the tyres under braking.

The Singapore street circuit will see the supersoft and medium compounds on the cars because of the cooler conditions during the night race and the slower corners which don’t trouble the tyres.

“The second half of the season starts off with two of the fastest and most demanding races for tyres of the year, in Belgium and Italy,” said Pirelli’s Paul Hembery. “Singapore is a completely different challenge: the final street race of the season, which is ideal territory for the supersoft tyres. As always, our selections have concentrated on providing the best opportunities for strategy as well as the most effective race tyres.”
