Tio Ellinas completed his first outing in an F1 car on Tuesday after he got behind the wheel of the 2013 Marussia during a straight-line aerodynamic test.
The Cypriot, who is part of Marussia’s young driver programme, currently competes and leads the GP3 Series.
He took part in the test at Kemble Airfield in the United Kingdom in preparation for his participation in the upcoming young driver test in July.
Speaking about his debut, he said: “Today was every bit as exciting as I expected it to be and a very special moment in my career. I will always remember this day I’m sure.”
He says he felt immediately comfortable in the car, adding: “After that I had quite a detailed programme to work through but it was very rewarding to be doing testing that will be of real value to the Team going forwards. Now I can’t wait for my next opportunity at the Young Driver Test next month and I feel that the work I’ve done here will benefit me significantly for that.”
