Lewis Hamilton’s former team-mate Jenson Button, has assured fans that the Mercedes driver hasn’t lost his speed, it’s simply a matter of him settling in and finding the right balance which takes time.
Hamilton looks to have struggled to match his team-mate, Nico Rosberg, particularly during qualifying. But Button has warned that it’s only a matter of time before Hamilton shows his true pace which will “shock you all.”
“For Lewis, it is the same as it is for all of us – if he does not have a car balance that suits him, then it is not easy,” explained Button to Auto Motor und Sport.
“Of course Nico is fast. But Lewis has not lost his speed. It is still there. He will come back and then he will shock you all.”
Button added: “You have to be fair. He has at least scored significantly more points than Nico. Lewis is incredibly fast.”
Hamilton currently leads Rosberg by 20 points, despite the latter having taken a race win in Monaco.
The interview happened prior to the Canadian Grand Prix – in which Hamilton outqualified Rosberg for the first time in three races.
