Kimi Raikkonen, who has been at the centre of much speculation, says he has ‘two options’ for 2014, but is yet to decide on which path to take.
The Finn didn’t elaborate too much on what those options might be, whether it’s to stay in Formula 1 or leave, or whether it’s to remain at Lotus or switch teams.
He did admit that he’s enjoying F1 and has a contract to remain with Lotus in ’14, but it’s believed that his third year with the Enstone-based outfit is an ‘option’ which he can opt out of should be decide.
“At the moment I have a contract for next year,” he told Autosport. “However, until now there has not been a lot of contact [with the management], we’ve just talked a bit of this and that.
When asked how many options he had, he replied: “It depends. I would say that I have two, but in F1 you can never know exactly.
“I haven’t made plans, I never do. If tomorrow I were to realise that I’m not enjoying it, I would leave immediately. I know that there comes a time in life when you want to do something else, because when you’re in F1 you have to devote almost all the time you have and you do not have much time to rest. Someday I want to stop travelling and do normal things, but for now I’m enjoying the ride.
“I’ll take my decision at the appropriate time.”
