Fernando Alonso avoided any punishment for stopping and collecting a Spanish flag following his victory at his home Grand Prix.
The Spaniard pulled aside during the slow-down lap to collect the flag before parading it around the circuit.
He was called to the stewards office for “receiving an object after the end-of-race signal” which is in breach of Article 43.3 of the sporting regulations.
However, following the investigation, the stewards chose not to take any action citing previous examples.
“No further action was taken to be consistent with a previous decision made under similar circumstances,” read a statement.
