Fernando Alonso, despite showing pace setting speed in both practice sessions, says he mustn’t get too carried away as things can change quickly come Saturday.
The Spaniard led first practice and was just under two hundredths slower than Sebastian Vettel in the second session as Ferrari tested their latest upgrades.
He says he and the team must remain calm over their speed and concentrate on getting it right on Saturday and Sunday.
“I think there is still a long way until qualifying and unfortunately we missed the first session because of the rain,” said Alonso on Friday.
“The car seems to be competitive, in the long runs as well, so it’s a positive start.
“But we’ve had many Fridays with positive starts and then we see in qualifying that the Mercedes flies or that the Red Bull is in front of everybody. So we need to remain calm and analyse the information.”
