Force India co-owner and team principal Vijay Mallya has praised a “mature” and “hard working” Paul di Resta.
The Scot endured a difficult end to the 2012 season as he struggled to match team-mate Nico Hulkenberg – that was in part due to a chassis problem which wasn’t identified for several races.
However he has bounced back in the opening four races of 2013, finishing in the points on three occasions and just missing out on his first podium in Bahrain.
He currently sits 14 points ahead of team-mate Adrian Sutil.
“The performances of Paul confirm just how much he has matured as a driver,” said Mallya. “He’s delivering consistently every week and we are reaping the rewards of all his hard work.
“He suffered a difficult end to the 2012 season, but he’s shown great mental strength and determination to regroup over the winter and recapture his best form. He’s pushing the team on and demanding the best from everyone, which is what we need.”
The Indian expects Force India’s strong form to continue.
“Having come so tantalisingly close to the podium with Paul last time out, we head to Barcelona full of optimism,” he added.
“The hard work everyone is putting in is paying off and we hope to see the rewards this coming weekend.”
