Robert Kubica has confirmed he tested in the Mercedes F1 simulator earlier this month in an effort to gauge his abilities following his 2011 accident.
He was spotted at Heathrow airport which prompted rumours that he was visiting the Brackley-based team. He is also good friends with Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff, who recently arranged a DTM test for the Pole.
Speaking to Autosport, he confirmed the test took place, but he remained coy on the details and lap times.
“I can say yes, I was there. But I cannot say how many times or how many laps we did.”
Kubica, who believes he could drive an F1 car around certain circuits already, has been competing in the European Rally Championship this weekend as part of his plans to get back into full-time competitive motorsport.
