Emerson Fittipaldi has been named as the president of the new Drivers’ Commission set up by the FIA following a World Motor Sport Council meeting this week.
The two-time world champion will head the commission which has been created to represent the rights and interests of all drivers in motorsport which are governed by the FIA.
Rally champion Sebastien Loeb was named as vice-president, whilst Nigel Mansell, Karun Chandhok and Maria de Villota ill represent single-seater series.
Others include; Emanuele Piro, Yvan Muller and Adrian Fernandez for Sports Cars, GT and Touring Cars. Rally will be represented by Nasser Al Attiyah, Marcus Grönholm and Daniel Elena, whilst ‘other’ disciplines come under Kenneth Hansen, Danilo Rossi and Keiko Ihara.
The commission is the result of the FIA being granting provisional recognition by the International Olympic Committee of the body as a federation.
