The second day of the final test saw drier conditions in the morning, which Lotus’s Romain Grosjean capitalised on fully to go quickest with a 1:22.716.
The Frenchman had finished bottom of the times on Thursday due to a hydraulic issue. He put that behind him on Friday though to finish almost half a second quicker than McLaren’s Jenson Button in second.
The conditions, whilst improved, weren’t ideal. The track was still damp from overnight rain and the temperatures weren’t what the teams would have liked in preparation for the Australian GP.
However they tried to make the most of what may be a largely wet weekend. Nico Rosberg completed 120 laps for Mercedes, by far the most. He finished tenth quickest ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.
The day saw three red flags, with the final one bringing the session to an end as rain began to fall.
