Luiz Razia’s Marussia seat could be under threat after it became apparent that some of his sponsors are yet to pay the promised fees to the Russian owned team.
The Brazilian’s absence from the MR02 cockpit during pre-season testing was the first sign that something was amiss, prompting rumours he had lost the seat.
However, Razia explained that “certain” sponsors were yet to fulfill their contractual obligations with regards to paying the team an unspecified fee.
“In the contract, there are certain parties with responsibilities,” he told his local newspaper, Folha de S. Paulo.
He is hoping to have the issue resolved soon – but should they fail to pay before the final test, Marussia may consider other options.
“We trust them [the sponsors], but there have been some conflicts. We will solve it. We only need a few days,” he added.
Meanwhile, Max Chilton has so far completed all eight days of testing.
