Pirelli have confirmed which compounds they will bring to the opening four races of the 2013 season.
The opening race in Australia will see the white medium tyres and, for the first time, the new red supersoft tyres.
The Italian manufacturer hopes the compound gap will encourage interesting strategy choices.
Malaysia sees the new orange hard tyre in action alongside the medium, with the high temperatures and abrasive circuit warranting the hardest compounds.
The medium and yellow soft will be used in China whilst round four, Bahrain, will use the hard and soft range.
The rules stipulate that under normal circumstances each team will receive six sets of the harder compound and five sets of the softer compound for the race weekend.
