Kamui Kobayashi has thanked those fans which have donated or helped raise funds in order to help the Japanese driver secure a seat for the 2013 season.
The now former-Sauber driver lost his seat after the team confirmed Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Gutierrez as replacements for next year.
In an effort to raise funds to improve his chances of racing, a website was set up asking for donations from fans and companies which has so far raised £500,000.
Though not enough to secure a seat, the donations are a good start when negotiatating with potential teams – one of which is believed to be Force India.
He thanked fans via a Twitter message: “Thank you for your support from everyone for ‘Kamui Support’. Thank you very much,” he wrote.
