McLaren’s Kevin Magnussen topped the times during the first day of the young driver test in Abu Dhabi.
The Danish driver’s fastest lap, a 1:42.651, put him six hundredths ahead of Red Bull’s Antonio Felix da Costa before Gary Paffett took over in the MP4-27 for the afternoon to go third quickest.
Formula Renault 3.5 champion Robin Frijns, who is expected to be confirmed as reserve for the Sauber team in 2013, was fourth fastest.
Meanwhile Nicolas Prost for Lotus, Luiz Razia for Toro Rosso and Giedo van der Garde for Caterham brought up the rear.
