Ferrari’s president Luca di Montezemolo has called on the Italian team to give it’s all in the final three races of the season as Fernando Alonso loses his grip on the title.
The Spaniard looked set for his third championship a handful of races ago, but a late Red Bull surge, which has seen Sebastian Vettel win four races in a row, has seen Alonso’s lead become a 13-point deficit.
This is driving Ferrari to give all they’ve got according the 65-year-old who revealed that team would be bringing some updates in the final races.
“The drivers and team have never been more united to give 120%,” he said. “We’re more united than ever, and the team is working on further improvements with the last three races in sight.
“We’re ready to give it 120%, just like Alonso. We’ll fight for the championship to the last kilometre. I’m very confident.”
Montezemolo praised Alonso’s efforts and thanks Massa for his contribution in India which has seen Ferrari extend its lead over McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship.
“Alonso was exceptional in India,” he added. “Felipe brought home some very important points for the Constructors’, and the team was perfect in the strategy and reliability.
“I don’t wish bad luck to anyone, but I think with two collisions at starts in the second part of the season, we’ve paid a very high price.”
