Sergio Perez may skip Friday’s practice sessions after he cancelled all his media commitments on Thursday after he fell ill.

The Mexican driver left the track early to return to his hotel room with what is reportedly a bad cold and not serious enough to see him skip qualifying and the race, but enough for Sauber to consider running Esteban Gutierez in his place for both FP1 and FP1.

The team reported they will make a final decision on Friday morning in India before ruling the 22-year-old out.
