Felipe Massa is hoping to finish on the podium more regularly after returning to the top three for the first time since the 2010 Korean Grand Prix, some two years ago.
The Ferrari driver drove a brilliant race to finish second, despite starting tenth.
“I think it’s fantastic, to be here after starting tenth,” said the Brazilian. “I was very happy with the car in practice. Qualifying was not so good – I was hoping to start in the top five but was tenth. I made a good start and was clever on the first corner when the accidents were happening. The pace of the car was very good.
“When we stopped we were half a second quicker and then I was able to push hard and overtake Jenson [Button]. Fortunately the race was much better than I expected, but unfortunately Fernando [Alonso] is not here to fight for the championship. I now hope to push hard for the podium, not every two years but at every race.”
