Sebastian Vettel took his second win of the season and his second win in Singapore to move up to second in the drivers’ championship.

The Red Bull driver took the lead after Lewis Hamilton retired with a gearbox failure from the lead. That also promoted his team-mate Jenson Button to second behind Vettel.

Fernando Alonso continues to extend his lead in the championship with a third placed podium finish for Ferrari.

Paul di Resta secured his best ever result with Force India to finish fourth.

The race was interrupted by two safety car periods, the first caused by HRT’s Narain Karthikeyan who hit the barrier in the grandstand tunnel. Michael Schumacher caused the second when he rear-ended Jean-Eric Vergne, ending both their races.

The SC periods meant the race was ended a lap short as it hit the two hour limit.

Marussia come away from the event happy after Timo Glock finished a best 12th, moving the outfit ahead of Caterham in the standings.
