FP3: Vettel makes it a practice hat-trick

Sebastian Vettel took a hat-trick of practice fastest laps putting him in a dominant position heading into qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix.

The Red Bull driver went quickest at the end of the session after switching to the supersoft tyre to go three-tenths quicker than Lewis Hamilton.

Fernando Alonso completed the top three whilst Nico Hulkenberg surprised in fourth with Kimi Raikkonen fifth.

The times were somewhat misleading as several drivers, namely Mark Webber, who clattered the barrier, and Jenson Button among others were unable to set a flying lap on the supersoft due to a red flag which ended the session early.

The flag was the result of Caterham’s Vitaly Petrov hitting the barrier at the penultimate corner which severly damaged his right-rear suspension and left him stranded at the pit-entrance.
