Hamilton wins in Italy as Perez storms to 2nd

Lewis Hamilton gave McLaren their third consecutive win in what was a perfect day for the 2008 world champion who closes the gap to championship leader Fernando Alonso.

The same couldn’t be said for his team-mate Jenson Button who comfortably held second behind Hamilton, before a fuel pick-up issue forced him to retire.

Sergio Perez stormed through the field from P12 to finish second ahead of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.

The weekend will be one to forget for Red Bull after both cars retired from the race. Sebastian Vettel with an alternator issue and Mark Webber with flat-spotted tyres after a massive spin as he exited the chicane.
