FP3: Hamilton pips Alonso by one-thousandth

Lewis Hamilton topped the final practice session for the Italian Grand Prix, the first time he’s been quickest in FP3 since the Chinese GP.

However, it was the narrowest of margins to second placed man Fernando Alonso. The pair were split by just 0.001 of a second.

Paul di Resta wrestled his VJM05 into third place, splitting the pair of Ferraris, with Felipe Massa just three tenths off the leading pace.

The session was fairly uneventful, with just Sebastian Vettel suffering an electrical problem, which he reported to be a flat battery. He stopped off-track at the second chicane just three minutes from the end of the session.
