Formula 1 will return to the Magny-Cours circuit for the first time since the race was dropped in 2008, however the track will only play host to the young driver test.
It’s confirmed that Ferrari, Mercedes and Force India will attend the test, which is scheduled for the week following the Italian Grand Prix in September.
This comes after several teams raised concerns that it wouldn’t be feasible to hold it in Abu Dhabi at the end of the season – as has now become tradition – because of the extended season which now ends in late-November.
Williams, HRT and Marussia opted to run at Silverstone following the British GP, whilst McLaren, Red Bull and Toro Rosso are all expected to continue tradition and test in Abu Dhabi.
Sauber, Caterham and Lotus are yet to finalise their test plans.
