The Nurburgring has been given a major financial boost from the local government which may help secure its future on the Formula 1 calendar.
The circuit’s future looked uncertain after a failed renovation, financed through several large bank loans, threatened the facility with bankruptcy.
However the local Rhineland-Palatinate’s state legislature has guaranteed the original 330 million Euro loan that was provided to finance the revamp.
Nurburgring boss Jorg Linder says he’s optimistic about the circuit’s future: “I am very optimistic that formula one will be going to the Nurburgring next year,” he told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.
