Sergio Perez says he won’t pressure Ferrari in to promoting him to a race seat, and will instead focus on improving with his current outfit.
The 22-year-old Mexican is a member of Ferrari’s young driver academy and, after impressing this season, has been linked on several occassions to Felipe Massa’s seat.
However the Sauber driver says nothing has been agreed or even discussed, but when the times right, then he will assess his options.
“We are focusing fully on this season,” said Perez. “It has been a very busy season so far, so it is too soon for me to think about my future.
“It’s not [something] I’ll will push. I have to see what the options are and then I will decide. If there is an opportunity with them [Ferrari] or another team then that is the time to know.
“I think I have done a very good job this season and I have proved that I have the speed, and the consistency as well.”
With news that Fernando Alonso has the right to veto a team-mate, it’s important for Ferrari that Alonso gets along with the driver occupying the second seat. Perez insists he has a good relationship with the Spaniard.
“I speak with him, I speak the same language, so I am quite OK with him.”
