Second practice for the German Grand Prix produced a blurred image of what the order might be come Saturday after heavy rain showers dictated the order.

It was Pastor Maldonado who chose the best moment to hit the track to post a 1:27.476, some ten seconds slower than Jenson Button managed in FP1.

The session saw little action until Jean-Eric Vergne braved the conditions 20 minutes into the session before being joined by Nico Rosberg who finished second quickest.

Rosberg’s team-mate Michael Schumacher caused a red flag when he crashed entering the stadium section.
