The Circuit of the Americas has confirmed it will construct two additional grandstands for the 2012 race following strong ticket sales.
Julie Loignon, Circuit Vice President of Public and Community Relations, revealed that the current allocation sold out in just a week and therefore additional seats are required to meet demand.
“We continue to be amazed by worldwide fan interest in our inaugural Formula 1 event and have listened to our customers’ requests for additional reserved seating options,” said Loignon.
“Within one week, we sold out the reserved seating sections located at Turns 2, 3, 4, 5, 12 and Turn 11 East. Our seating plan offers us the flexibility to make adjustments based on customer demand and we are pleased to offer additional grandstand seating in areas that offer great views of the action.”
The new grandstands are located at turns 9 and 11, with tickets starting at $299 (£190) and $269 (£171) respectively.
