Williams are fully prepared for the Monaco Grand Prix, despite suffering a garage fire at the last race in Spain just a week ago.
The Grove outfit were celebrating in their garage after Pastor Maldonado secured their first win in eight years. However joy turned to panic and sadness as a fire tore through their garage, destroying much of their IT infrastructure and garage equipment.
Chief operations engineer Mark Gillan thanked rival teams and suppliers, most of which offered to loan equipment to the team, allowing them to compete in Monaco without too much trouble.
“The team’s preparations for Monaco have been somewhat hampered by last Sunday’s garage fire, but the impact of the fire has been mitigated by what can only be described as a Herculean effort by the factory and our suppliers to restock both the damaged equipment and car parts,” said Gillan.
“We would also like to thank the generous offers of help from the other teams, highlighting once more the excellent sportsmanship that exists in Formula One and high levels of comradery throughout the pit lane.”
