HRT team boss Luis Perez-Sala doesn’t think it likely that his outfit will finish ahead of Marussia this season, despite having done so on the previous two occasions.
HRT has somewhat been on the back foot as it’s focused its attention on a change of ownership and factory recently, which has had a detrimental effect on the development of the F112.
Perez-Sala believes this and a ‘good job’ by Marussia on their 2012 car, means it unlikely HRT will be able to match their 11th place finishes in 2010 and 2011.
“Hope is the last thing to die, and I hope we can finish ahead of them in a race, but we have to be realistic,” the Spaniard admitted to Autosport.
“They are more competitive than us. They have done a good job and I think short term we have many things to focus on in the building of the team.
“So I don’t believe we can be consistently more competitive than them in the short term.”
