The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, will be ready on time, according to one of the tracks designers, Peter Wahl of Tilke GmbH.
Despite many setbacks from weather to lawsuits, Wahl is confident that everything is in place for a great event this November, when the race is scheduled to take place.
“It’s time to say it’s okay. It will work,” he told the Statesman. “I can already say we will be ready earlier than November.
“I’m sure it will meet all the requirements of Formula 1. It will be one of the best tracks in the world,” he added. “It’s like creating a baby. We are now still pregnant, but we know already that it will be born.”
Meanwhile, the lead engineer behind the project, doesn’t believe the planned race in New Jersey next season will detract from Austin.
“I believe there can be a synergy,” explained Christian Epp. “It’s easier to have two tracks to promote rather than one. I see that as a benefit for both if you play it right.”
