Nico Rosberg says it’s obvious that Mercedes is making progress after successfully completing 128 laps in Barcelona on day one of the third and final test.
The German was behind the wheel of W03 and set the fifth quickest time, 1:23.992, just over seven tenths slower than Romain Grosjean who topped the session.
Rosberg was happy with the conditions and the result.
“The track is amazing for testing at the moment, probably too good because they are conditions you won’t find again at races. But we still learned a lot,” he told reporters including The F1 Times on Thursday.
“We are still seeing a lot of front graining and rear degradation, so I am sure the tyres will continue to make the races very interesting,” he added.
“The team is working better than last year, they’ve built a better car than last year and everything has gone more to plan.
“There are no problems, so we have been able to get some real testing going and really concentrate on the performance of the car, whereas last year we were concentrating on reliability. So you can see that it’s very obvious that we are moving forward.”
