Lewis Hamilton will have an experienced hand aside him during the 2012 campaign to ensure he achieves his very best, with the confirmation that his current management company, XIX Entertainment, has signed Didier Coton to manage the McLaren driver.
Coton is highly experienced in the management field having helped the careers of several drivers, most notably double world champion Mika Hakkinen – a good friend of Hamilton’s.
The 27-year-old’s detractors have often placed the blame for his poor 2011 campaign on poor management by XIX, a company headed by Simon Fuller, but it’s hoped the hiring of Coton will reverse the 2008 champions fortunes.
“Didier’s appointment builds on the existing strengths of XIX and I am delighted to have him as part of the team,” said Fuller. “I’m positive about the season ahead and can’t wait to start.”
Coton added: “Being appointed by Simon to join the team is a great honour. I am excited to work alongside two such prestigious personalities and talents.
“XIX’s visionary approach is unique and one I believe in. I look forward to helping Lewis achieve success and developing long term projects with Simon and his team.”
