Michael Schumacher topped the timesheets on day two at Jerez with a lap over half a second quicker than second placed man, Mark Webber.
The German was however driving the 2011 Mercedes, rather than the teams 2012 car which is set to debut at the second pre-season test in Barcelona.
Daniel Ricciardo slotted in behind Webber, whilst Jules Bianchi made his debut in the Force India, before handing the car over to Paul di Resta for the remainder of the day. Di Resta finished sixth quickest behind Tuesday’s leader, Kimi Raikkonen.
Felipe Massa led Jenson Button in seventh and eighth with Sergio Perez, Pastor Maldonado, Heikki Kovalainen and Pedro de la Rosa completing the days testing.
