Kimi Raikkonen set the quickest time around Jerez during the morning session in which he completed 50 laps in the Lotus E20.
The Finnish driver was closely followed by Force India’s Paul di Resta, with the Scott just a tenth off the pace in the VJM05.
Nico Rosberg completed the top three fastest runners, though the German is using the 2011 car, with Mercedes opting to delay their launch until the second test in Barcelona.
