Ferrari have hired former director of Bridgestone’s tyre development, Hirohide Hamashima, to ensure their 2011 tyre worries are a thing of the past.
The outfit failed to understand the harder compound Pirelli tyre in 2011 which was their major downfall during a race weekend. In an attempt to overcome this, Ferrari believe Hamashima’s knowledge will enable them to do so.
“He will give his contribution to the development of the car and the issue of tyres, as this was an issue where last year we suffered in some conditions,” team principal Stefano Domenicali said during the 22nd Wrooom event.
Hamashima will report directly to technical director Pat Fry.
